that was the indianapolis colts, excuse me in indiana. the colts went to scout him out. davis now with the 49ers hooks up there, a 60-yard connection. there were some slop points at the end of this game but final score and bottom line the 49ers, 2-0 in the preseason, beat the vikings, 15-10. some 49ers notes, the first drive impressive. alex smith led the team down the field, 70 yards and 12 plays ending with the touchdown by anthony dixon. alex smith, three third down conversions and they converted on all three third down possessions. did not play, frank gore vernon davis, crabtree and even westbrook. so 49ers have a lot of star players. maybe more precaution that did not play. next saturday at the oakland coliseum, bay area rivalry, 49ers and raiders. the niners and the raiders will also play in the regular season. the raiders also looking pretty sharp. when we return we're going to take a break, we go to the locker room for our live coverage of the players getting off the field. we have laura standing by and two reporters on site. we'll check in with brett favre. not

preseason opener a couple of weeks away in indianapolis against the colts august 15th. a lot of buzz here in santa clara and across the nation all about jerry rice. just a few day as way from being inducted into the pro football hall of fame in canton, ohio. jerry rice inducted on saturday. jerry, not just a from football legend here in the bay area but a huge part of the community. he's been to the bay area, been in the bay area since moving from mississippi 25 years ago. here's jarry. >> the bay area's so special to me because of, you know, just this is my, this is my history. getting drafted by the san francisco 49ers, this country boy coming to the big city, and then to have the city to welcome me with open arms. and being able to go out and entertain so many people on that given sunday or monday, during the super bowl. my legacy is here in san francisco. you know i have so many great fans and i just love the city. >> reporter: special time for jerry rice and all of the 49er fans this saturday in canton, ohio. as we wrap it up, going to one of our young 49ers camera

the blue devils of concord won their 13th championship this weekend in indianapolis. this is their winning performance. awesome. congratulations. >> fantastic. >>> some local universities getting graded on how well they teach your kids. kristen dahlgren is live in washington wearing her college spectacles and a look at which northern california colleges will make the grade. surprising numbers this morning. >> reporter: yeah. they really are. i'm sure a lot of these universities are not going to be happy with this latest report card. the report is titled what will they learn. it looked at more than 700 universities across the country, they looked at how well or how many of these required core curriculum courses do they make students take before they graduate. they looked at seven key subjects, math, history, science, literature, foreign language, composition and economics. what they found was students have these huge knowledge gaps. they gave more than 60% of the schools they looked at less than a "c" or below. so, let's look and see how some of the local schools did.
